I am Lana Wang, an illustration graduate from the Rhode Island School of Design.
My work encompasses conceptual illustrations, artist books, and experimental design spanning fine art to entertainment art. Influenced by symbolist aesthetics, classical literature, and a splash of pop-culture, my decorative style layers second reads, narratives within narratives, and extra details for those who look closer. Whether traditional or digital, 2D or 3D, my work all begins with the same foundation: thorough, scrutinous research. This establishes a framework for reimagination that asserts my distinct way of seeing; these conceptual seeds are then cultivated through explorations of media and materiality, communicating interpretations of culture, mythology, and symbolism.
Intertwined within my illustration practice, I enjoy integrating elements graphic design with form and type. Word, image, and form coalesce in my methods of making, each time telling a facet of my story to a passing viewer.
